National Youth Day which marks the Janma Jayanthi of Swami Vivekananda is celebrated every year on 12th January. This year being the 160th birth anniversary of the great spiritual leader, it made the occasion very special and was celebrated in a grand manner by AYUDH at our school.
The function as usual started with the auspicious prayer and lighting of the lamp. Irene R Sasi of 9th A and Diya Santhosh of 8th A gave a brief introduction on AYUDH which is an organization started by Mata Amritanandamayi Math to develop a serving mentality among the youth.
Swami Vivekananda himself was a youth icon of his time who fought fervently against social inequalities and motivated the youth with his thought-provoking speeches and inspirational quotes. His speech at Chicago in 1893 was brought alive by Rihan Sajith of 8th B who dressed in the attire of Swamiji and presented the declamation with perfection.
“Awake, Arise, and stop not till the goal is reached” – this famous quote by Swami Vivekananda has always been a source of inspiration for the youth and has empowered young minds to be fearless and to work tirelessly for the upliftment of our society.
Mrs. Jeeja and Mrs. Prabheena, teachers of our school gave a clear idea to the students about Swami Vivekananda through their speeches in English and Malayalam respectively. It was followed by a speech by Devakeerthi Shaj of 8th A which highlighted the life of Swamiji.
A skit in Malayalam was enacted by Shalwin Lijeesh, Rigwed Nair and Rihan Sajith of 8-B, wherein Diksha of 7B gave an outline of the story, and Devadarsh (9A), Gokul (9A) and Krish Pradeep (XI) dubbed voices for them. The entire school watched the skit with great enthusiasm and applauded the young talents.
