A two-day Capacity Building Programme on Classroom Management was conducted at Amrita Vidyalayam, Kuthuparamba on July 26 and 27, 2019. The Resource Persons for the programme on both days were Mrs. Philomina James, Retired Principal of Crescent Public School, Thrissur, and Mr. A. Balakrishnan, Principal of Nithyananda Bhavan English Medium School, Kannur. CBSE observer Dr. Abdul Jaleel Perla was also present on both days.
The session on the first day dealt with concepts related to understanding classroom management and components of classroom management, giving a detailed view of the purpose and principles of effective classroom management. The session on the second day comprised of a detailed outlook on content management, conduct management and covenant management. Worksheets on these topics made the day interesting for all the participants.
The second day started off with a recap of the first day. The various topics dealt with on that day were developing rules and procedures for effective classroom management, consequences and rewards, dealing with misbehaviour, managing large classes and classroom management plan.
The resource persons made the programme worthwhile through their lively sessions, and it enabled the participants to view the different angles of managing a classroom. The capacity building programme was attended by teachers from Amrita Vidyalayam Kuthuparamba, Amrita Vidyalayam Thalassery, Amrita Vidyalayam Kannur and Birla Public School, Doha, Qatar.
The two-day session ended with distribution of certificates to all the participants as well as the resource persons, and online filling of feedback forms.
