Our school actively participated in the ASWAS mission – a winter-clothing drive for rural villages in Northern India – organised by the international youth movement, Amrita Yuva Dharma Dhara (AYUDH). Aswas is an initiative to help the poor who have been suffering in extreme cold weather conditions without adequate woollen clothes.
On 28th November, the matter was introduced in the school assembly and a request was put forward to the students to donate winter clothes. We received a wonderful response from the student’s side. They contributed blankets, jackets, shawls, sweaters and other types of woollen clothing. Within two days, we had collected 10 bags of brand new winter clothes.
All the donated clothing was handed over to the Aswas group, and was immediately send to Uttarakhand. Members of Aswas thanked us by giving thank you cards to all the students.
