International Yoga Day (21-06-16)

Changing times and lifestyles have made human beings start rethinking their basic attitudes towards themselves and towards life in general. Wherever we turn, we find pain all around us – both emotional as well as physical. It is then that we realize that to a great extent, Yoga can help us find a solution to all these problems. Although Yoga has been practiced by many, our aim was to reach out to the common man.

On June 21, 2016, we celebrated International Yoga Day with all solemnity and serenity. Sri P. Bhaskaran, Civil Engineer and Patanjali Yoga Guru was our Chief Guest of the day. The day started with our Chief Guest’s words of wisdom about the ever increasing need for yoga in our lives. He spoke to the students and staff about the importance of maintaining good health as it is the most important factor in our lives. Students and staff representatives also spoke on this occasion. Following this, students and staff representatives performed yogasanas on the stage. Students from classes 6 through 11 also participated by performing yogasanas. The courtyard and corridors of the school were energised by the synchronised yoga session. Hats were distributed to the students as part of the event.

After the yoga session, Sri P. Bhaskaran planted saplings on the school terrace to convey the message of saving the environment. The inauguration of the Amritam Project which aims at serving society and inculcating values was also done on this occasion.
