On September 25, 2015, our school took the next step forward in organic farming by inaugurating the first harvest from our terrace garden. The guests of honour were Sri K.P. Mohanan, Honourable Agriculture Minister, Ms. Suja Karat, Agriculture Officer, Kunnothparamba, Sri Jinraj, Agriculture Officer, Kuthuparamba, Sri Dhananjayan, Malayala Manorama reporter and Sri Vijayan, ADA.
Sri K.P. Mohanan inaugurated the harvest by cutting the crops that we had grown on our terrace, cheered by scout students, teachers and parents. Later on, Sri Mohanan walked around appreciating our school for moving forward in the field of organic farming as well as motivating the students towards it.
The day also saw the inauguration of the Amrita Stall located on the right side of the school building. All our vegetable produce like brinjal, lady’s finger, tomato, chillies, cauliflower, beans, spinach, bitter gourd, cabbage, corn, drumstick, ridge gourd, coconut, banana etc. will be sold henceforth from this stall. We had made soap, soap powder, and phenoil at our school from eco-friendly products. These too were put on sale in the Amrita Stall. The amount that we collect from selling these products will be used to benefit the needy in society.
