KAPILA – A STEP FORWARD

Kapila & Shivani

Our school has two aims when we look towards rearing cows in our school. The first aim is to generate awareness about the nearly extinct breeds of Kasaragod dwarf cow and Vechur cow, and to do what little we can from our side to help increase their numbers. The second aim is to help us in our vegetable farming venture where the dung and urine of these cows can be used.

On the 21st of August, 2015, a new member was added to our cow family by the birth of ‘Shivani’, the calf born to Kapila, the cow at our school. Kapila’s milk is of high quality and has medicinal value. Its ghee is again of great importance and the cow dung too can be used as an antiseptic. In short, the cow with its lustrous eyes has a divine quality.
