Our school has been participating in the Malayala Manorama Nalla Padam project for quiet some years. Under this project, we took initiatives in doing a lot of social service and bringing about awareness in society about the need for love and care.
As part of this project, we decided to help Sri Vijayan who is a visually challenged artist. Swathi Raj of class VIII was the one who informed us about this artist’s need, which she had come to know of through an advertisement in the newspaper. She was well appreciated by the school for her caring nature. Sri Vijayan was given Rs. 4750 by our students participating in Nalla Padam. He and his wife in turn taught the children how to make flowers with paper. The students of class VIII attended this session. Through his words and actions, he proved to the children and society that visual challenges can always be overcome through determination of the mind.
