VEGETABLE FARMING 2015 – 16

As time flies by, new innovations continue to pop up in the field of agriculture. In our school also, we have brought in a lot of innovation in the field of agriculture. Compared to last year, we have taken our farming activities even further. As of now, our school vegetable farming has extended to areas like the school courtyard, school grounds and the surrounding areas within the campus.

This year we have made certain innovations in our terrace farming. We have equipped our terrace with the ‘Mazhamara’ and ‘Shade Net’ in order to optimise the sunlight and rain that terrace farming needs. We have also experimented with a wide variety of vegetables in our gardens and are happy to inform that all of our saplings have yielded more vegetables than we expected.

The following are the details of the vegetables and fruits that we are cultivating in our school.

School courtyard – lady’s finger, ridge gourd, bitter gourd, winter melon, ivy gourd and snake gourd.

School grounds – green chilli, plantain, tapioca, brinjal, grains, papaya, soursop tree, tomato, spinach, turmeric, ginger and gooseberries
