Vermicompost is the product or process of composting using various worms, usually red wigglers, white worms, and other earthworms, to create a heterogeneous mixture of decomposing vegetable or food waste, Banana Stem, and paper. Vermicompost is an excellent, nutrient-rich organic fertilizer and soil conditioner. This process of producing vermicompost is called vermicomposting. Vermiwash is produced after the process of vermicomposting which can be used as a fertilizer. We made a cement tank filled with soil, African Earthworms, Banana stems, paper, Cow dung and food wastes.
Bio-Gas and Bio-Compost:
Our school has started a new venture of bio-gas plant of BIOTECH, Which is established under Government of India. Biogas typically refers to a gas produced by the breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. It is a renewable energy source. Biogas is produced by the anaerobic digestion or fermentation of biodegradable materials such as manure, sewage, municipal waste, green waste, plant material, and crops. The Slurry is produced from Bio-gas plant. We have started getting the result of biogas plant in the form of Methane gas. We are able to use it for 6 hrs on a daily basis right now.
The term Bio-compost means plant matter that has been decomposed and recycled as a fertilizer or manure. Bio-compost is considered as a key ingredient in organic farming. Our School has already started to use the product as a manure in Gardening and agricultural field.
